What is Document Protection?

It is a way to share a file and keep control of it. You lock the file, send it by email or link, and decide who can open it, how many times and until when. You can take access back at any time.

Is this document DRM?

Yes. NakodaX applies document DRM: encryption, permission checks, expiry and revocation, without asking recipients to install anything or create an account.

Do recipients need an account?

No. Recipients do not need a NakodaX account. They open the protected document in a browser, with nothing to install.

Can my team use it?

Yes. Invite admins, members and viewers, or use it on your own. A single person works as a team of one.

Control after you send

Can I revoke access to a document after I've already sent it?

Yes. Revoking access stops every protected copy from opening again, even after it has been sent, downloaded or forwarded.

Can I see who opened it?

Yes. Each document shows who opened it, how they got in and when.

Can I share only part of a document?

Yes. Choose the slides, sections, sheets, columns or regions the recipient should receive. What you leave out is not in the file they get.

NDA and Data Room

Can I get an NDA signed before someone opens a file?

Yes. Turn on an NDA for a document, pick a built in template (one way or mutual) or upload your own, and the reader confirms their email, reads it and agrees by name before the file opens. You and the signer each get a signed record. You can turn it off again any time.

What is NakodaX Data Room?

A Data Room is one place for a whole deal. Invite investors, buyers or advisers once, cover the room with a single NDA, and publish the documents you want them to see. You can see who opened what, remove anyone, and close the room on a date.

Can I put my own logo on a Data Room?

Yes. Add your logo and a background colour to the room, so the people you invite see your brand when they open it.

Can I use our current cloud storage?

Yes. NakodaX works with Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Photos and Dropbox.

Can I share photos, video and audio?

Yes. Photos open in a protected viewer where readers can zoom, and video and audio play in the browser. You set the expiry and open limit and can revoke access at any time.

How do I upload a video or audio recording larger than 500 MB?

Use nkx-upload, a command-line tool for macOS, Windows and Linux. It is free to install, and uploads count toward your NakodaX box plan. It encrypts a recording of up to 5 GB on your computer before it uploads, and it resumes if your connection drops. Install and usage steps are on the developers page.

Security and AI

Does NakodaX see the readable document?

No. The document is encrypted in your browser, or on your computer with the nkx-upload utility, before it is uploaded. The one thing we can read is the NDA text, so it can show before a document unlocks.

Can an AI tool read a protected file?

Not without authorized access. The protected document stays locked until permission is checked.
