The proposal you sent last quarter is still being opened

Detailed proposals help win work. They should not become permanent copies of your pricing and approach after a deal ends.

A protected proposal can have a set by the business access window. It cannot erase information a recipient has already copied elsewhere.

You sent the full proposal because that is what it took to win: real pricing, scope, and the approach behind the work.

The prospect went quiet. Months later, the same document can still be sitting in an inbox, shared drive, or procurement folder.

A proposal has a useful life

Proposals, pitch decks, statements of work, and pricing sheets need to be usable while a decision is live. They do not need to remain available forever after the decision is made.

When the only option is an ordinary attachment, sales teams either hold back the useful detail or accept that every version may travel indefinitely.

Make the access decision explicit

Protecting sales proposals and pricing documents comes down to one choice made before sending. Document Protection lets a sender set access for a protected document and change or revoke that access when the relationship changes. A recipient can use the material while the conversation is active, within the permission the sender grants.

That is different from asking someone to delete an attachment later. It applies to protected access; it does not erase content a recipient has already copied out.

Why it changes the sales conversation

A defined shelf life makes it easier to send a useful proposal instead of a deliberately vague one. The sales team can use the real scope and pricing that help a buyer decide.

If a prospect returns after a long pause, access can become a reason to restart the conversation rather than an unnoticed reopening of an old file.

Use it where the exposure is real

Start with documents that reveal commercial terms, delivery methods, customer context, or internal cost assumptions. Use a clear expiry or review date, and change access when the deal is won, lost, or materially changed.

The takeaway

Send the proposal that helps you win. Set an end to access when the decision is over.
